Kylilis
Practitioner of
Chinese Medicine
In 2001
Christine attended Middlesex University, in London,
where she began her studies in Chinese medicine. Her
degree consisted of a 5 year program jointly run by
Middlesex University and Beijing University of
Chinese Medicine (BUCM). It included an extensive
study of both Chinese medicine and modern
biomedicine, as well as 3 years of clinical
training. Graduating in 2006, Christine was awarded
a Bachelors of Science in Traditional Chinese
Medicine from Middlesex
University (UK) and a Bachelor's of
Medicine from Beijing
University of Chinese medicine (China).
As part of
her undergraduate training she attended clinical
internships at both Xi Yuan hospital and China-Japan
Friendship hospital in Beijing, China. In the UK,
her clinical training included a three year
internship at Asante Academy of Chinese Medicine and
a two year internship at Whittington Hospital NHS
Trust's pain clinic.
In 2008,
Christine returned to university to further her
studies at the University of Westminster. During her
postgraduate studies she took interest in the field
of hepatotoxicity and other adverse drug reactions
associated with Chinese herbal medicine. In 2009 she
was awarded a Masters of Science in Chinese herbal
medicine.
In 2010, the
Cyprus Council for the Recognition of Higher
Education Qualifications accredited the jointly run
program of Middlesex University and Beijing
University of Chinese medicine, and officially
recognized both Bachelor awards. Together with Dr
Charis Theocharous and other fully qualified
acupuncturists, Christine is active in the battle
for state regulation and an increase in training
standards of acupuncturists, and other professions
practicing acupuncture in Cyprus.
Christine is
now living and working in Limassol under the
mentorship of Dr Charis Theocharous. She runs a
general practice treating a wide range of ailments
with specific interest in dermatological and
neuromuscular conditions. |
